Is it embarrassing to drive around an old crappy car, or does it really matter?

Do you judge someone in ANY way based upon the car they pull up in?

i depends on how old you are and where you live, where i live kid in high school drive better cars then the teachers, at my college i see more Benz's and BMW's then Civics

The person who judges someone on the type of transportation the the person is driving, has more of a problem than the person with the old car.    Vanity knows no end.   Very likely, the judgemental person more financial problems than the person who will drive a clunker, and put his money in better pursuits.   One of the richest men in the US, doesn't even own an automobile.

I used to be embarrased by it, then I met some people from other parts of the world who lived in a cardboard house in a cardboard house neighborhood.

Suddenly just having a car and place to sleep seemed so much nicer than it did before.

No not at all! I much prefer students who have an old banger which they love and that has a character, rather than a snazzy new one. I do not judge people on what car they have, but maybe slightly if they have a really expensive posh car that their parents bought them for no reason. Old cars rule!

No. I don't think it is embarrassing at all to drive around in a little $hit box. They are for the most part better on gas and parts are more plentiful.

If its good enough for you than its OK.  All of them is going to be crappy one. look at it on the bright side you just got a head start. Now on the other and if it put you down in odd and at the most worst time don't get a an old crappy car. Also if you stay with you mother and got a nice car and she can't pay her you need to lower you standards and help

Hey, at least you have a car, it gets you from A to B, who cares what it looks like, it's yours...and, your car will probably not get stolen...ha ha
