It possible within a 50 year time frame. Maybe not today or even the near future, but still, if U look at the general trends of things, things seem to be going that way

  1. I hope not....With Canada's easy immigration policy(  I'll some it up- "Come on in!") and Mexico's cartels running around in the deserts, everywhere, I think that would make things much worse here.  Granted, border agents do stem the smuggling flow of narcotics and illegals, dissolving the border entirely would be like opening the floodgates to all the problems that everyone fears.  If you thought cities were overcrowded now, imagine millions more trying to live and find jobs in the same places.  Welfare recipients would completely drain the system to nil. People everywhere would be fighting for crumbs.  Due to the lack of resources, crime would go up.  I don't want that.  I'm not saying Mexicans/Canadians would commit more crimes, just the stronger would try to take from the weaker.  Also, Mexico's problems of narcotics and Central American illegals in their country would become our problem, and Canada's high income tax for free health care would escalate the national debt by leaps and bounds.  So, I don't see any joining for a long time, if at all.

  2. Manifest destiny. Fifty years from now? Hmmm. Despite NAFTA and the general trend towards merging our economies, I think it's unlikely. It's just too unpopular an idea (in all three countries).

Ironically, the States could have seized Mexico 150+ years ago.  Their army had marched all the way down to the capital. They were there at the invitation of Mexican leaders like Benito Juarez, to kick out Emperor Maximillan.  They could have claimed the country then, like they did with Puerto Rico (but not Cuba) after the Spanish-American War, but they didn't.  Probably for the same reason that they snubbed Cuba: it wasn't white enough.

And as for Quebec separating from Canada, that probably won't happen either.  Every province accept Ontario has threatened to separate at some time.

  3. No.  I don't see why this would happen.

Most likely Canada will split apart on its own.  Quebec is likely to eventually declare independence.

  4. no because our government is 9 1/2 trillion dollars in debt.  Who wants to get mixed up in that?

  5. I do not see this happening.

  6. No.  Both nations are very proud of their history, culture and independence and would never want to be a state or states of the U.S.

  7. I have no idea why this would happen. That is a good point about Canada though. I think it's only a matter of time before Quebec is no longer a part of Canada.

  8. I don't think the citizens of these countries want that to happen, but politicians and business are already working on making this a reality now called the North American Union.

I've listed two links below.  You can google search for more.

If citizens want to stop this, they need to know about it and contact their legislators.
