  1. Yes you will become more energetic over time and you will lose weight.

Be careful not to eat anymore then what you are eating now.  You have to increase your intensity and distance over time as well as extending your ride time.  It is very easy to think you can eat what you want but you really have to watch how much you eat.

  2. Riding daily is great, but you may want to schedule days where you're taking it easy too.  Your volume of exercise is good, but rest is important too.  Working out provides the greatest benefit when your muscles have a chance to recover.  For me this is about 48 hours, but I'm middle-aged and don't recover as fast as I did when I was 19. <wink>

The distances you ride don't require any special diet considerations.  It is only on rides approaching 2 hours or longer that you have to worry about what you eat or the timing of what you eat.  After a hard workout, the muscles are most receptive to replenishing glycogen in the minutes after you stop.  You may not have much of an appetite, but that is a good time to drink a smoothie for example.

As long as you exert more calories than you consume, you will lose weight.  There are a good number of calorie estimators on the web that can give you an idea of what you're burning when you ride.

Be aware however, that you can gain/lose pounds of water through sweating and re-hydrating.  Keep this in mind when weighing yourself.  I've gotten to where I can tell if I'm de-hydrated by stepping on the scale.  If I've lost even a single pound in 30 minutes, I need to be drinking.

  3. As silly as it sounds, eat more banana's. They're going to help you get more potassium into your body thus revitalizing your energy.
