Is it ethical for the republicans to offer money to anti-groups to slam another candidate?

Political strategist Karl Rove, freed of his White House role, is encouraging major Republican donors to give their money to organizations that operate independently of the Republican Party and are poised to spend upwards of $100 million trying to elect conservatives this fall.

Mr. Rove, the architect of President Bush's election victories, has been telling Republican benefactors across the country that giving to official Republican Party fundraising committees will not be enough this year, according to people familiar with his pitch over the past few months.

To counter that wave, Mr. Rove has been asking elite Republican fundraisers to pour their millions of dollars into nonparty groups like Freedom's Watch, which is gearing up to spend tens of millions of dollars to help elect conservatives - primarily Republicans - to Congress and the White House.

  1. What is moveon.org? Don't act like this move is onesided! Both sides do this!

Added - NBC and CNN is moveon.org light!

  2. Well you certainly do cut and paste well. Now ask something original.

  3. The Republican Gustapo can use whatever tactics they want.  If the American public is dumb enough to elect John Hitler McCain, then we deserve another 4 years of high gas prices and a floundering economy.

  4. The Media does it for free!!  I'm getting a migraine.

  5. Moveon.org is small compared to NBC and CNN.

  6. No, it isn't

  7. like interest in "ice dancing"....it happens every four years...

    ...just ask Soros and Carville...

  8.   Of course its not ethical. I expect they will continue to do it and do it very well.

Talk about a double take though. How often do you see ethical and Karl Rove in the same sentence?

  9. moveon.org???! Oh, please! You really should seek some therapy!

    McCAIN\PALIN 08!

  10. As ethical as it is for Moveon.org to do the same thing.

    Democrats invented these tactics.

Now they can live with them when they come back to bite them on the butt.

  11. Ethical? No.

But ethics hasn't had a place in American politics for about 40 years now.

  12. and Moveon.org is doing what?

    http://www.moveon.org/

Wes Boyd and Tom Matzzie of MoveOn are leaders of Campaign to Defend America which hopes to raise and spend over one hundred millon dollars on the 2008 election and is running anti-John McCain TV ads and funding other organizations such as Campaign Money Watch.

  13. I don't know about ethical, but it is sleazy and effective.  That is how we got stuck with "W" for 8 years.  I think Democrats do this also and it is just as sleazy.  Too bad so many Americans can not see through the sleaze and put a stop to the practice.

  14. Anything that can head off a liberal take over is ok.

  15. Do your homework. The Democrats utilize this tactic far more extensively than the Republicans. There are hundreds of Liberal PACs (most of which are linked to George Soros) funneling money into campaign attack ads (and into the Democratic campaign itself). Look at MoveOn.org for instance. Seriously, you need to learn the facts before you make silly statements. I'm almost embarrassed for you.

edit: everyone understands your question. you just don't like the answers. the republicans don't have the evil george soros to bankroll them. that's all. you don't even know it...but, george soros is behind every idea that you think is your own.
