  1. Yes. I'm an incredibly poor vegan college student who shops at aldi.

  2. They don't have frozen veggies. grains, beans?  Those are meatless.  Not all vegetarians eat Boca burgers.

  3. yes they do, they have spinach raviolis, vegetarian burritos, tons of fruits and veggies, yogurt, cereal, crackers, frozen pizza, french fries..

    it's not too hard.

  4. It is definitely possible, but somewhat expensive only if you shop at the high end supermarkets, such as Whole Foods, etc.  It is actually better staying away from those meat imitation products and stick to the veggies, nuts, beans, and greens, you will get as much or more and leaner nutrition from other vegetarian sources.

It can definitely seem like a huge task to go from a carnivore to a vegetarian, so I would suggest cutting one type of animal meat at a time (red meat, pork, chicken, fish).  If you must eat something with a meat-like or meat-less food, try doing it once a week so that its not as tough on your pocket.  Besides, the more vegetarian you truly become, the less you'll want or crave meat or animal products (especially after leaning the health risk of some of them).

    Healthy eating!

  5. well it is possible. beans are a really good source of protein, and they are very cheap. you could supliment them into your diet. tofu also works well as a supliment

  6. Rather than buying the expensive meatless products in the supermarkets, try buying textured vegetable (soy) protein granules from a health food source.  It is the basis of the meatless products and using them in your own recipes you can control the other stuff that's in there.

  7. getting the right amino acids is key to being a healthy vegetarian.  if you buy rice and black beans it creates some that most other things dont. buying a can of black beans and a bag of white rice is cheap, as cheap as it gets. and tofu is really only like $2 a container and that is cheaper than really bad meat and it has like 4 servings a container. you can also eat really unhealthy with no meat, like pasta and stuff.  just check it out.  you dont need boca or morning star type products to be healthy.

just buy the essentials at the more expensive place where they carry it and the rest at your cheaper places...good luck it is worth the hard work.

  8. Dry beens and rice are very inexpensive. Also buy all your fruit in season and locally if possible. The fake processed stuff is what makes things expensive.

  9. sure, as long as you don't EAT meat, you're a vegetarian.  Heck, you can even BUY meat, and COOK it for others and still be a vegetarian.

  10. I shop at Aldi.

I buy all the fruit to make this fruit salad:

    Fruit bowl,.

Whole pineppple into chunks. Slice strawberries. Add whole table grapes no seeds, add chunks of watermelon, and cut oranges in slices cut into triangles. This is best made the night before so that the juices can all run together and stir before serving.

They sell all kinds of cucumbers, green peppers, fresh vegetables, etc.

Aldis sells Boca Burgers.  I eat a lot of those.

Aldis sells salad mix bags.  All you have to do is add salad dressing, like ranch, Italian and they sell that.

Aldi sells mac and cheese, plain alfredo, rice, multi-color pasta salad kit

Aldi has a whole isle full of all kinds of fresh fish (frozen but not fish sticks but actual filets) including shrimp, scallops, etc.

    Aldi's vegetarian meal planner:

Aldi's has soy milk and orange juice

Aldis has all kinds of canned vegetables and canned fruits too.

Aldis has 100% whole wheat bread.

    They have cheese pizzas.

You do have to go to other stores for a few items like refried beans not made with lard etc and I like morning star corn dogs.

They have so much more than this but yes, I shop here and do fine and I am not poor at all, I just don't like throwing my hard earned money away.  Why pay more for the same products.

  11. yes, its Extremely possible.

im a vegetarian and mygrocery bill is actually cheaper than the rest of my family's and they are not veg.

but, jus relying on meat relacers will not keep you healthy.

as a vegetarian you need to add more fruits and veggies to stay healthy, its ok to have ameat replacer once in while but its better not to have to rely on them. get some more green and it will be easier for u.

  12. what my mom does is get the frozen veggies and canned products you can get frozen vegtables and purea them and then make them into patties freeze um for 4 to 5 hours then frie walla!! a veggies burger

  13. You don't need fake meat to be vegetarian, that's absolutely ridiculous.

If this Aldi place has bread, pasta, rice, beans, peas, lentils, nuts, seeds, fruits and vegetables; being vegetarian is as far from impossible as it can get.

If you cook with these basic ingredients, being poor is should be no obstacle.
