im so frustrated by the cost of college. is it even worth paying 20,000 a year so you can end up with a bachelors degree and get a job that pays not even twice that a year? and dont mention scholarships, because for the longest time people have been telling me they will help a lot, but I got some and theres no way they will pay for even a fraction of college. and my parents arent helping at all. should i just get a job and not go?? theres so much emphasis on college these days but im starting to think its one of those things people just say you have to do..when you can get by without it? and i know its all about the experience, but it is way too much money

  1. I ended up going to a $50,000  per year college and it was not worth it. I'll be paying student loans for the next 10 years. Go to a small community college, I wouldn't not go to college at all.

  2. You can get student loans that put off payment until after college. And yes, it is worth it because over the course of your lifetime you will make way more with a bachelor's (or higher!) degree than without. In fact many jobs that aren't fast food or retail won't even hire you unless you've had at least some college education.

  3. My best answer for you is it depends what you want to do. Do you have experience in a skill or a trade that can keep you employed?  For example A/C maintenance, auto mechanics, plumbers and cosmetologists have the freedom of going anywhere and getting a job.  Most people will repair these big ticket items before replacing them. Just about everyone wants a descent hair cut.

If you don't have any sought after skills, it is probably worth getting some type of degree or certification.  Go to a community college or trade school that offers night classes. You should be able to do this for low cost.   In this day and age, it is real hard to get an office job and recieve a liveable wage for the rest of your life!

  4. It is definitely worth going to college. If you don't go to college, it will take you ten times as long to work your way up in any company. Having a degree automatically puts you above the competition. Some people work for 10, 15, or 20+ years to get that $50,000 salary, and then others who go to college (and work hard during college) can get that $50,000 with just a four year degree, and then they can be making more money while they are paying for their education.

I would recommend looking into student loans. Most of the time you won't have to pay much (if any) money until at least six months after you have graduated college. Also, fill out the FAFSA. It's free to fill out, and if you qualify, you can get Federal Grants for college, Work Study through your college, and low-interest Federal student loans. It doesn't hurt to fill it out, even if you don't think you qualify!

  5. a college degree will open doors for you when you hit the job market.

  6. yes, because it is about the process, if you get the right process, I'm sure you will be success later. i know it's so expensive, but if you want to go to college, you better enter now, before it gets more and more expensive...

  7. how about distant learning? you can get your degree online and such colleges are usually cheaper. just get a job and use the money to pay for your education..that way you'd also be gaining experience while studying.. it's not just about the job you'll get..it's about your own self-esteem..if you don't do it you'll be forever wondering if you should've and whether if it wouldv'e got you a better job,a higher salary,etc..goin to college is something a person can never regret..not goin is what you'll surely regret at some point of our life..just go for it.

  8.    You need to go to college.  There are colleges that are not that expensive.  If you have to,  just go part time and work part time.  I know it seems hard but if you don't go you will regret it.
