  1. Being a specialist is an advantage that can become a disadvantage if the environment changes.

    A generalist is more likely to be able to adapt to changing conditions.


  2. "Ever" is a big word in evolutionary terms.

    Man is a successful generalist.  Fig wasps are successful specialists.  So the answer is yes.
