  1. I believe the intent here is more towards making empty-promises that alone, I believe, is where the problem lies.

    1) Yet consider you make thoughtful, responsible, yet sparingly promises... we should consider the following.

    2) Would keeping the promise jeopardise another's life, including the one we made the promise too... in the light of new variables that have came to awareness in between the time the promise was made and the time the promise is to be fullfilled?

    3) What is the real motive of breaking the promise? Is it just a boring-inconvenience.... or for selfish gain that could be postponed?

    4) Ideally we'd all like to keep our promises, but we are human.... and at times break promises both flippantly.... and sincerely for the good of others unselfishly...

    5) But to answer your question, with my idealist hat on:

Answer:  If Breaking the promise leads to no ones harm or demise both short and long-term.... then No... it's never right to break a promise.

  2. yes spies must do it to defend their country however to ones you love or have no reason to break a promise it is morally wrong ...  i guess it just depends on why you broke the promise in the first place
