  1. Yes, unfortunately Dublin is one of the most expensive cities in Europe... Rent on a one bed is about 900-100 euro per month although you'll get a shared house for about 500-600 per month...if you're really desperate you can share a room for about 400ish....

But food, bills etc., will be a lot.....sorry to disappoint but they don't call it 'Rip off Ireland' here for nothing....

  2. No it's not cheap but if your smart about it you can get by with less money.I pay 70 euro for my own room in Phibsborough and live on less than 100 euro a week, food in aldi and lidl are cheap and drink in the off licence is a quarter of the cost of the pub.If you get a job you'll get at least 70 euro a day.It really is'nt that bad.................

  3. i live in Northern Ireland, i wouldnt even go to dublin for the day never mind live in it. the cost of living down there is really expensive. it is one of the most expensive cities in Europe. sorry to be the bearer of bad news but im afraid thats the way it is. im not sure about rent and stuff for the likes of a student but i would say the costs would still be pretty high.

  4. Yes it is very expensive for a student living in Dublin, but not so expensive as living in Durham. I should know, my son spent 4 years as a student at Trinity and then a year doing a Masters in Durham. About €400 a month would be at the lower end of rental, about £270. Durham was about £350 rental for basic halls accommodation. Food was also more expensive in Durham. It really depends how much you want to spend on your social life.

  5. depend if your going to curb crawl, good luck over there

  6. My mate moved to Dublin last year and he says the price of living is a lot higher that in Scotland but i suppose i would have to know where you live at the moment on the plus side he says the people are friendly and it's a really nice place to live

  7. yes unfortunately it is...

i was a student in dublin and because of the money that was demanded from me for it i ended up having to leave college because i couldnt afford it!!

what i will advise u on tho is apply for every grant under the sun, even if it looks like u are not eligable, u might still get it!! and they are a huge help.. and there is loads of options available for people not even from ireland who come here to study so start looking into it now cos deadlines creep up really quick!!!

  8. Yes, ridiculously so. I have my own room in a shared apartment for 480 euro per month, and some consider that to be quite cheap. Basically, you're looking at paying around 100 euro per week. That on top of bills, food, travel and so on, adds up to a nightmare debt for students. Check out www.daft.ie to get a better idea of prices in specific areas etc.

  9. I work for an international transport co in Virginia Co Cavan, n/e of Dublin. Let me tell you all of the RoI is expensive.

  10. Dublin is very expensive, particularly for those livign on a budget, like students. Try getting a transfer to Cork or Limerick, much cheaper and much more fun for students.
