  1. Yes

  2. It can be, depends on the type of car/truck you have. I know some guys that can do a clutch on say...Honda civics in 2 hours, without a car lift, but for other vehicles it takes 5 hours with a lift. Ford diesels come to mind.

figure 250-350 for parts, 50 bucks to resurface your flywheel, and 200-400 bucks for labor. Just guesstimates here so don't freak out before calling your repair shop.

  3. You can usually get reasonable clutch kits for under $120 - including friction diskm spring plate/carrier and most important - release bearing.

Expect to take all day to do it if it's your first - and buy the workshop manual. It's one of the biggest jobs to attempt as so much has to be removed before you start. You will very likely need - ball joint splitter, spring compressers, at least two jacks and axle stands, usual sockets and spanners,  container for transmission fluid and new fluid.

  4. depends on the car and if you can do it yourself.

  5. ^He's right. Its not too hard to do yourself if you have the haynes manual from the parts store to aid you. I'd buy the book read the chapter and see if you think you can do it.
