A lot of people eat from fast food restaurants like McDonald's very often. Most of these people are kids. When kids get overweight & unhealthy, parents blame the fast food restaurants for it. Do you think this is fair? Choose yes or no, and why.

  1. Absolutely not. Sure the fast food is what is making them fat. But it's the parents fault for letting them eat there in the first place. I show no sympathy. I do, however, feel deeply sorry for the children who are exposed to obesity problems. They are the real victims here.

  2. No, it's not fair. Parents are supposed to be authority figures to the kids, and that could and perhaps should include regulating how often their kids eat at fast food joints. Such parents merely want an outside scapegoat to blame for something that is really THEIR responsibility.

  3. No.  They are paying for it.  It's the "power of the purse".  Unless they have a car and a job of their own it's the parents fault.  There are choices even at McDonald's. they can order a salad or apple slices or lowfat milk but they don't.  Can you believe you can "supersize" a kids meal!  I have had friends that ordered their child 2 happy meals, or supersized a happy meal or bought them an adult meal.  Our kids were the same age but they would say" but your kids are so small." Well that shouldn't make any difference their stomachs are the same size. A happy meal is a normal portion for adults.  I won't order myself more than that, but I usually don't eat there.  I never tried to tell them what to do.  I saw how touchy they were when their pediatricians said things to them.  One told my friend that if her child continued to eat like that he would not be able to walk by the time he was 19.  She changed pediatricians she was so mad. It was just the truth and the kids health was the pediatricians job.  Now her kid is 18 and sure enough he is having alot of trouble walking he has had several ankle and foot surgeries, his weight is too much for his ankles. I would feel so guilty if my kids were in that condition because I never could say no to them.  Or if I had ordered them too much food all the time at fast food restaurants.  But my kids don't have a  weight problem.  but I must say they never whined for food or threw a fit for fast food like he did. So, I shouldn't judge, my kids didn't make it hard on me.  But I believe ultimately it is the parents responsibility.

  4. I say the second answer is right

  5. It is not fair to assign blame.People have to take charge of their own lives, fast food needs to be used as atreat not a constant diet.

  6. no way! no one is forcing your children to feed their fat faces with a big mac! but thats reality, its always been human nature to play the blame game.

  7. Depending on the kids age, I think it's the parents fault. Kids really don't understand the difference between 5 grams of fat and 50 grams of fat. So how can you blame a child? Kids know hunger, and fast food feeds hunger. What 10 year old is driving himself to the burger joint? It's the parents fault for not caring about their children enough.

  8. No because of the word choices.  America wants to blame everyone else.  In rehab, one of the first things is to learn the you are the only one who got yourself in this mess

  9. A child will eat what you give him.

No one but the parents should be responsible for what he eats.

  10. Of course not.  Humans have free will and must be responsible for their actions.  If parents allow children, when they are young, to have an excess of unhealthy foods then this is a habit that could grow as they become adults.  But ultimately we are all responsible for how we spend our money, what we choose to eat, and our exercise habits.  And remember, fast food isn't the only unhealthy food choice out there.  The average US grocery store has aisles and aisles of processed and unhealthy foods that are just as dangerous when not eaten in moderation.  Saying fast food is to blame for obesity is like saying car manufacturers are to blame for drunk drivers.  Businesses produce a product and the consumer is expected to use it responsibly.

  11. well the parents let them eat that stuff and wernt monitoring their diet so its really their fault

  12. At McDonald's we provide healthy alternatives to kids in their happy meals. Instead of fries they can get apples and caramel dip. Instead of soft drinks they can get white or chocolate milk, or apple juice. It's the parents choice and they shouldn't be blaming other fast food restaurants for something they let their kids eat. McDonald's cares about providing people especially kids a healthy alternative when eating at McDonald's.

    Enjoy :)

  13. Is it fair to blame guns for violence? No you blame the person behind the problem. It's not the resturant's fault, it's not the parents fault; it's the kids fault. He CHOSE to eat. They didn't FORCE him to. He CHOSE to be unhealthy. He knew the consequences, but ate anyway.

  14. no, it is the parents falt, the parents are the ones that introduced them to the food.... kids start eating out at young ages and do not know........some of them even get edicted to it! i blame the parents!

  15. No,

They do not force you to eat there.

You have the choice to eat there or not.

    I usually pick NOT.

  16. Absolutely NOT. Parents are supposed to be the ones in charge, and control where their kids eat. The root problem is some American homes is that in these days both parents work and it may be harder for low income families to be able to eat home cooked meals. But it is always up to the parents to teach by example, and to offer choices. Fast food, like everything else, in moderation is never a problem.

  17. NO, the parents bought the food and let them eat it, and let their kids sit on their butts and watch TV, instead of making them go outside and play. Its the parents fault not the restaurants.

  18. no i dont think so.. most fast food places have a healthier choice not by much but it is healthier..  and then there are places like subway. if the parent dont have time to cook for their children then they should at least  guide them on a healthy choice..  they are the parent not the fast food.. ther doing whats in their best intrest and advertising and parents should do whats in their best intrest and try to keep their kids healthy.. would you blame weed if your kids smoked it? or a gun for killing someone?
