Is it fair for my neighbours to yell at me for this?

This morning I woke up at 5:30 in the morning because someone drove by with insanely loud music and so I got out of bed and then I realized that it was Garbage Day and they pick up around 6 o'clock and so I just went and took my garbage to the curb in my PJs, and then my neighbours came and spazed at me like an hour later. They said I shouldn't be waltzing around the neighbourhood looking like that. And its not like my PJs are inappropriate or something, it's a tank top and PJ pants, but they yelled at me like I was wearing a freaking thong or something. And they just went on and on for like an hour about it and said they were going to complain to my parents. They were like sooooo spastic. And I don't even get why. Is it in any way fair for them to yell at me like this?

That's so stupid.  It's not like you were wearing something inappropriate and flashing people.  Geez!  They should just mind their own business.  Like someone else said, if it bothers them so much to see people in pajamas, they don't have to look!

I am going to say no.  I take the trash out in my PJ's all the time and I have a long driveway.  They should be excited that teenager took the trash out of her own free will.

Just tell them if they think it's so indecent, call the cops, but pj pants and a tank top isn't illegal, nor is it bad.

I would just try to ignore them, they sound like they're not all there.  It's none of their business what you were doing.  You weren't doing anything to them, so they've got no right to complain.

I would just tell them straight up you were doing a favor for your parents and didn't have time to change - and you honestly don't think your pajamas are bad. If they STILL don't agree, put the pajamas on and tell them to call the cops - they can't do anything, it's not illegal. Heck, in Columbus, you can walk around WITHOUT a shirt on (yes, women too) - let alone PAJAMA PANTS. LOL - this is ridiculous.

It's not in anyway fair, and you were just doing something nice. Wow, I couldn't imagine getting out of bed that early, you're a sweetheart and just trying to do something nice. I guess some neighbors are crazy, mine are :-). Just tell them how you feel, and if they don't agree, then fine. Apologize for it (even if you're not sorry) and if they still don't drop it - then their the ones who look stupid, not you.

That wasn't right of them at all! I go outside all the time in the front yard in the same type of clothes, it's more of sweats and really low cut tanks to take my dog out to potty really quick and get back inside and I really don't care what my neighbors think.

I would tell your parents if you think it's necessary. You should be able to wear whatever you want (if it's covering your body lol) in public.

No way, they have no right to scream at you, if you want to go out of your house wearing your PJ's that's YOUR business, not theirs. If you wanted to walk around in shorts and a crop top that's your prerogative and that's not for them to decide. You weren't bothering them in any way like playing loud music or using obscene gestures or anything like that, so tell them to mind their own business, or walk away from them if they try something like that again.
