  1. Yes.....next question.

  2. Absolutely - Is it fair that you didn't pay your taxes and everyone else did?

  3. It is more than fair to give a "tax rebate" to persons who have not paid their taxes.  The government could have passed a law that gave a "tax rebate" only to persons who already paid their taxes.

So, a person who did not pay their taxes got a reduction in his tax debt for free.

  4. Yes.You owe it, so why would they give you more.

  5. If they didn't your fine and penalties for not paying what you owe would be astronomical.

  6. Yes, it is.  And you should make a point to pay off whatever it remaining because the interest they charge will eat you up even quicker.

  7. Yes, they do I believe. We must pay taxes or it will kill you in the end.

  8. No it is FAIR, just think you owe them that much less and less interest and penalties are accruing.

IF you have an installment agreement with the IRS your installment agreement letter gives you the terms and condition of the installment agreement, and it STATES ANY AND ALL REFUNDS WILL BE OFFSET AND APPLIED TO YOUR DEBT.  IT also states that even though you refund is offset you must make  you monthly payment.

  9. Of course it is!  The rest of the taxpayers have been carrying YOU for as long as you've owed back taxes, so this lessens the burden that the rest of us bear.

It's a good deal for you as well, since you'll pay LESS in penalties and interest on the past due amounts.

  10. Is it fair that you didn't pay your tax in the first place, when you were supposed to?

Yes, it's fair that they keep your stimulus payments, or any refunds, to apply toward what you owe.

  11. let me see if I get the gist of your question.  You want to know if it is fair for someone (the government) to keep some of the free money they might give you to pay the debt you owe them.  I would imagine that during this period that you owed the government you have not been using any if the benefits or services that would have been paid for with your tax dollar.  Now that would be fair.
