I wanted to get a hotel by the museum campus but I can't find anything for less than 200.00 per night plus is it common to charge 30.00 a day for parking? Is it feasible to stay by the airport and take the bus with a visitor transit pass or are we going to spend all our time in traffic trying to get to and from attractions?

Thanks!

  1. Yes, it's very feasible.  The only museum you might have difficulty getting to would be Science and Industry.  From Midway I would take the Orange Line and then catch the train to S&I.  All the other museums and Shedd are close together.

  2. Staying near Midway is a good choice.  O'Hare is too far .

  3. MIdway yes, O'Hare no

  4. Time is the factor to consider when staying at the airports.  ORD is almost an hr from downtown.  If this is not a pblm...go for it.

Using public transportation saves a bundle when you have to park the car. 99% of everything is accessable from the CTA train and/or bus lines.  Go to the following site to find routes and fares.  Use the hotel address as your starting point and the pull down menu for destination:

  5. Could you possibly let us know which airport you are referring to?  Chicago actually has 2 airports - O'Hare and Midway.

  6. If you are staying near Midway take the Orange line CTA train to the Roosevelt stop.  You will then be in the South Loop and within a 10 minute walk of the museum campus.  The train will cost you around $2.00 and will be much faster than the buses.  Regardless, you can get both the train and bus schedules here: http://tripsweb.rtachicago.com/
