Is it fine for me to take Advanced Ginkgo Smart by Irwin Naturals?

On the bottle, it says " Not intended for use by persons under the age of 18." I am 15, so I called the company, and they said that it was ok, but they said it in a very weird way, and they were even rude about it. I looked at all of the ingredients, and there was nothing in it that seemed not sutiable for a non-adult. This is a link for it: http://www.evitamins.com/product.asp?pid=4329

However, on the bottle it says not for use by non-adults, but on this website it does not say so.

  1. Why are you wanting to take it?  What problems does a 15 year old have that you need brain power?

Personally, I would not take it.  I don't think it would do harm, but you can't be too sure.  You're still growing and you don't need to mess something up!

The DMAE, TMG, Huperzine A  and Mucuna Pruriens extract  are a little concerning as I don't know what those would do for you.  DMAE is a hormone stimulator so it could be dangerous.  TMG is generally safe, but I've heard that there really is no benefit of taking it.  Hup A is also one of those herbs that there is conflicting info on.  Mucuna I am not familiar with.  I've worked with Irwin Naturals before and their products don't really seem to be that good.

If you want brain power, I would try either flax seed oil or fish oil.  You want to make sure that you are getting a good amount of a substance called DHA.  This is a part of Omega 3 and is very, very good for brain function.  Its totally safe and been proven a million times over!
