  1. whenever i'm on my periods and i have quran class, i usually wear gloves cuz then u're not touching the quran, i think reading is okay as long as you have someone turn the page for you or read online or just listen to some cd's of the recitation.

It's best not to read it when you're on because you are unclean and you need respect for the holy quran. =]

  2. yes y not

i was listening to a fatwa last week on saudi radio (these fatwas are really from a knowledgeable scholars ) they said that is is better not to touch it directly but wear a glove

but u still can touch and hold it up

some ulemas still say u cant

  3. I agree with most of the answers, that you can read Qur'an, but for the respect of the divine verses from Allah try to avoid touching it.For, this purpose, reading Qur'an online is the best option.

Please, remember its a book of guidance which is always there for you.Not touching is a matter of respect as you are not clean in those days.

  4. Basically you can read but just do not touch the Koran with your hands but instead with a cloth or something or just read online.

You can listen to a very good explanation here: http://www2.alislam.org/askislam/mp3/MEI...

    1. It is permitted for women to read Qur'anic verses for protection, dua, and the intention of dhikr (as opposed to Qur'anic recitation), even if out loud.

    2. It is permitted to look at the Qur'an, and to touch it with a barrier (e.g. a cloth one is not wearing). It is permitted to read the Qur'an (without pronouncing the words), without reciting it.

    3. It is recommended in the Hanafi school for women in their periods to sit making dhikr in the place they normally pray, in order to keep up their good habits.

    4. It is not disliked for women in their periods to recite litanies (ahzab, sing: hizb) of supplications, such as those of Imam Shadhili, Imam Haddad, Imam Nawawi, and others. It is permitted to recite even the Qur'anic verses in these litanies, with the intention of dhikr or dua.

    5. It is highly praiseworthy to listen to the Qur'an, even recorded. There is great benefit if this is from the recitation of a master, such as Hussary. Good recordings of his are commonly available on the Net.

See aso Menstruation: Proofs for the Impermissibility of Women Touching the Quran or Entering the Masjid at http://qa.sunnipath.com/issue_view.asp?H... .

  6. I've been reading the Quran when I have my period, but I guess it's haram somehow because your "unclean!" I still don;t get it! It's not like your going to get your period blood on it!

  7. reading Quran on the Internet is okay but like you said you cant touch anything that has quran written in it

  8. One can  recite Qur'an if you know some surah's by heart, then there is no problem with it. But one cannot touch the Qur'an while you  are in  period.

May Allah help Us all! Ameen.

  9. well there are difference of opinion among scholars on the issue of touching and reading from the Qur'aan while on period.  But according to the view that says it is okay to recite, you won't be deficient in its rewards compared to others without period.

here is one of the view from the scholars (allowed):

http://abdurrahman.org/women/Women__Natu...  >>>>> pls go to pg 18 and read the cases.

    (not allowed) http://www.islam-qa.com/en/ref/2564

  10. you can see, read but not that loud until you can hear yourself and you can't touch/hold it, unless out of emergency (like the quran fell down and you need to put it back on its plave). but you can hold any quran which has its translations (tafseer quran). the same goes in any months, whether in Ramadhan or not

  11. Blood is najis which makes the woman unclean and dirty. It's not that she is cursed, but she goes through hormone changes, cramping, bloating, moodniess, fatigue, and menstrual flow that makes her hard to live with during this time period.  So ALLAH(subhanna wa ta'ala) excused women from fasting or praying on their periods, because they would be too uncomfortable and not in a clean and fit state to pray or fast.  As for reading Qur'an off the Internet, that is allowed.  She just can't touch the Qur'an, fast or pray while on her menstrual cycle.

  12. I am a teacher here in SaudiArabia...

During the religion classes in school, when a girl in on her montly.. and we are reciting.. A fellow classmate is allowed to hold the Quran up for her to recite.. or she can hold it in a clean cloth or tissue, or she can wear little clean white gloves...

But she is allowed to continue to read and learn.. if she wouldnt be allowed,  girls would loose 1 week of the month for all the months she is attending class.. this wouldnt be right...

  13. Its ok for a muslim girl to read quran while having the period but dont touch the quran, and if you have ur period you can read any surah except the surah that has sajda you are not allowed to read it.

  14. umm I think you are allowed as I do this myself. Some people told me that you are not allowed to even touch the Quran but others say you are. I think you can touch the Quran but without touching the Quranic words. But I read somewhere that you do get less thawab if you read the Quran without wudu so you will probably get less reward while mentstarting.
