  1. As long as your husband is earning enough for the whole family and you can take care of yourself and your kids if and when you get divorced. It happens.

  2. Yes, many college educated woman are so sick of the hustle bustle...they are going back to an easier time.

If life wasn't meant to enjoy...what was it meant for?  Good for them!

But, what someone said above if you can afford it good for you.  Are you saving $600-$1200 a month for college?  If not, than you can't afford it.  And frankly, staying home til your child is ready for kindergarden, isn't as valuable as a college education for your child.

  3. I saw an interview about a year ago on tv about this.  This female reporter was reporting on a trend about current 20 something women.

This is a summary of the report.  While todays young mothers respect the contributions of their female predecessors putting their careers before family, they are not impressed.  They see aging women with strained relationships with their kids.  The young women remembered growing up in empty houses or in day care.  Many did not want that for their kids.

What they want to do is structure work around their family.  It could mean working part time, taking a few years off or other things.

The reporter who conducted the interview was in denial.  She was in her late 30's and obviously was swept along by the baby boomer female fervor of putting the career above all.  She kept trying, to manipulate these young women to into repeating the classic baby boomer lines about wanting it all.  I could tell she felt betrayed.   About all she could get them to say was that they respected what the boomer career women chose for themselves.  But they were clearly unimpressed and  wanted to emphasize having more involvement in family life than boomer women did.

  4. ~~I think people are realizing it's the most important job a parent can make. Our economy is not making it easy, but if it can be worked out for one parent to always be taking care of the children it is the most important decision you can make. You may forego many luxuries, but to be there to instill your values to your children and raise them to be happy, well ajusted, productive adults is the best thing you can give them and our planet!~~

  5. I really don't know, but I have always respected  SAHM.

  6. I always have respect for stay at home mom... you guys have it tough!
