i have to wait till taxes come in, they told me at the cruise line that they would be sold out and we could not get three rooms at that time, but I dont' know if they are just telling me that to get me pay now. I was trying to hold off one more month, or is that going to be a mistake

  1. March is a heavily booked month due to Spring Break.  You might be able to get cabins, but they may not be located near each other.  Larger cabins (3x and 4x guests) book quickly for this period.

In order to fill all of the cabins, the cruise line will continue to sell the lower priced cabins and bump up the passengers that booked early.

    Check out :  www.vacationstogo.com

They have a 90-day deal ticker that shows available last minute deals on cruises.

We took 20 people on a family reunion cruise in June.  We are taking 15 people on a Spring Break cruise in March.

Make sure your get all of your documents in hand so you can take advantage of any last minute deals.

My niece and her husband were able to save 1/2 on a cruise because they were able to go a week ahead of their originally planned date.

  2. 1 room, maybe. 3 rooms-no way. especially if you are taking a popular itinerary.

  3. This is what I think your best bet is going to be? If you want the rooms together and like right next to eahc other book now but if you dont care where they are and if your looking for a certain type of room it depends. If you want an inside I think those are the last to fill and they usually have them left up until the sail date and then ocenviews are better but like balconies and above are probably sold out now. The only bad thing about booking late is you might have a problem finding airfare you can either book with he cruise line and if something happens it be their fault or can do your own travel and sometimes save alot of money or you could even go down the day before and not worry about all that hetic stuff that goes on the day of the cruise. Then if you want passports you proably could do that now and have them by the time you cruise but if you dont bring a PICTURE ID like a drivers license and school ID for kids and your BIRTH CERTIFICATE, if you odnt have one their like 10 dollars but i would recommend passports but they might not be there by the time you need them. They usually have last minute deals up until like 2 weeks before but you risk alot if you book that late and if you dont want ot pay now you oculd put it on a credit card and make payments on it so you dont pay for it all at once. Then you have your excursions to book and do that stuff online if you want but I think you could wait like middle of January and get some pretty good deals.

  4. That would depend on where you want to go. You won't have the pick of a certain cabin on a certain deck if you wait that long.  If it is of no concern which cabin or where its located, then I don't think it will be a problem.  Probally will be all inside cabins left when your getting that close to sailing or a few of the very pricey suites.

  5. Yes it will be hard especially if its a popular port of call.

It will also be way more expensive than if you book now.

Could you try to book the cruise for March '08?  That way you could ensure you will get three rooms nearby and a better price.

  6. No...you can always find good deals online up until 2 weeks before travel date.

  7. Yes and No;  generally most cruise lines sell out by the time they sail.  You will probably get rooms, but you may get the back or front of the ship, and the rooms may be on different floors.  If this is okay than, your fine.  If not, call me and I would be glad to see what I can do.

I can be reached at dena@thecruiseplanner.com

  8. Get your passport, you MUST have one  starting 1/1/07 to travel anywhere outside the US, including Mexico, Canada, and the Caribbean.

As far as the rooms are concerned, maybe yes and maybe no.  If it is a popular route and ship, then you are taking a chance, especially if you want 3 rooms together.  On the other hand, the lines cut  cabin rates as departure time approaches.  I believe now you have to book 2 weeks in advance, the war on terror and all.  No more booking on Thursday and leaving on Saturday. :-(

Try an on line cruise discounter like vacationstogo.com.   We have booked through them several times at greatly discounted rates.

    Good luck!
