  1. Im a sprinter and I run Cross country. You have to work a little to get your speed back but its not bad. I would strongly suggest running cross country as a sprinter because it helps with leg strength. I dropped 3 seconds on my 400 time from it. I want from a 57.6 to a 54.3. its competely worth it.

  2. if you do xc, right after season ends you HAFTA start sprinting again because xc only gives you endurance.  it will slow you down if you don't start picking up the pace when track rolls around.  (doing high jump pretty much has no effect though.)  you should be fine !

  3. our top sprinter on track ran xc

and besides you will sprint at the end of the race

  4. It's only gonna hurt you if you are an elite runner. Basically the best sprinters in the world have let their slow-twitch muscles atrophy so that they can increase the size of their fast-twitch muscles without gaining too much weight. Think about it, muscle weighs a lot, and if you have 5 extra pounds of long distance running muscle to carry when you are sprinting its gonna mess you up. Basically you should do it, just make sure you don't gain any weight when you run, all the other things from xc will help you a lot (increased vascularity due to body fat reduction), and a stronger heart (which is made of only one type of muscle). Do it! And its a lot of fun! Good luck!

  5. it depends on the sprinting events you do. of you do anything above the 200m, it will help. X-Country is best for 400m sprinters, and it shouldnt affect hight in a bad way.

  6. cross country/ distance running    is about the worst thing u can do if u want to sprint.  I'm a sprinter/hurdler, longjumper, and highjumper. During sprints, u run with ur muscles "starved" of oxygen. wen u run distance   u train ur  muscles to run with mor oxygen, resulting in mor stamina running farther distances. Wen u do distance ,  it changes the muscles from sprinting. I definetly dont recomend cross country if u want to continue sprinting.

  7. NO!! its terrible for you

when doing long distance running (XC) you ruin you natural running and jumping muscles

  8. actually funny you asked. i do track and cross country im not a jumper but however i am a sprinter and cross country doesnt affect neither in any way. it actually helps you will be in way better shape.

hope i helped and good luck with them both.
