  1. Why would it be bad? it is something that improves the immune system. Come on now you that you should of asked another ? other than the obvious.

  2. It's OK, but only onse a day

  3. Depends on your diet.  If you are getting an adequate amount of fruits and vegetables in your diet daily, you should get enough vitamin C with what you're eating.  If not I believe a good multivitamin should help.

  4. There is not enough information given to know for a specific person if Vitamin C is needed. If I can reflect on what my own kids were like at age 18, this would be my answer.

Vitamin supplements, like vitamin C, are likely to fill in 'the blanks" in the diet of older, busy teenagers who eat what they want, when they feel like it and do not eat several servings of fruits and vegetables a day. Vitamin C is the reset molecule for vitamin E, allowing that vitamin to additionally react as an anti-oxidant.

Oral administration of Vitamin C will allow only a certain amount to build up in the blood stream, so taking high doses by mouth will not bring about more effect. Since it is a water soluble vitamin, it "washes out" easily. For this reason, if a person wanted to insure a good amount available, taking a low dose frequently would be in order.

The use of "good" and "bad" words in your question might bring to mind safety questions. As I stated, high doses by mouth do not work. But there is little evidence of harm to the body when this is done. Membrane irritation is likely the chief symptom.

  5. A small dose is fine as most vitamin c supplements are ascorbic acid but it should be noted that taking too much vitamin c is potentially toxic as its a water soluble vitamin. Also it won't help you get over an illness faster, and it is more of a precautionary thing.

Also note that antacids, alcohol, antidepressants, birth control pills and steroids will deplete this vitamin.

  6. Vitamin C is great for everyone, just make sure the supplement's brand is reputable or else you may not be getting the nourishment you think. No one regulates herbs and vitamins, the FDA is not concerned with preventive medicine. So don't buy a bottle for three bucks just because you think you are getting a deal, chances are they are ripping you off. Buy supplements and vitamins from your local health foods store: since they specialize in that area they will have done the research for you.
