Is it good to be a vegetarian.?

because my mother told me its not good for my body to not eat any meat. is that true.?

    No disrespect intended.

    Ask her why it's bad for your

    body and you'll discover

    that she doesn't know what

    she is talking about.

    How many food related

    deceases come from

    non-animal derived

    products?

    How many deaths from

    heart disease and colon

    cancer can be credited

    towards the over consumption

    of red meat?

    You can get everything that

    your body needs from beans,

    nuts, lentils, grains etc.

    So to chose to eat meat is

    either just ignorance or

    completely selfish.


  2. Your mother is misinformed and is a victim of the commercials.    Vegetarianism is very good for you if you eat a balanced diet.

    Most every single food has protein.  I hate it when people who are misinformed come in here and give bad advise (Like the person above).   You will all the protein, minerals and vitamins you need if you follow the pyramid.

  6. It is a little bit,  meat has protien (sorry for my spelling) and there is only a few non-meat foods that has a good amount of protien.

  7. You can't exactly say that.Vegetarian or not,you still have to get the right amount of nutrients everyday.You can always find substitutes for meat products and avoid too many vitamin tablets.

    Meat is generally rich in protein and iron(it also does have decent amounts of calcium). Soybeans and legumes are a good vegetarian substitute for the protein.Green leafy vegetables are decent sources of iron. Milk and dairy products are the best sources of calcium.

    And in reference to a previous answer,hair fall(or hair getting thinner) can also occur when the diet contains insufficient amounts of iron. You can't directly relate not eating meat to hair loss. And about the change in complexion, i'm surprised. I know a lot of vegetarians who are extremely fair.

  9. Ok, you don't have to eat nuts and protein bars for the rest of your life ^. You can eat eggs, tofu, beans, TONS of fake meat substitutes, peanut butter, the list goes on and on. No it's not true. Doesn't your mother know meat causes heart disease? Mad cow disease? Not to mention it makes you fat...

  10. false. not eating meat gives you more energy and less fat. americans are fat because of their excess protein intake and don't realize that eating tofu and other veggies have the right amount of protein.

    people who say it's bad don't know better, so explain to her and if you have to make a presentation(like i did) to show your parent(s) that eating meat isn't good for you and that not eating meat IS.

    now, if you're going to give up meat and eat nothing but carbs then yeah you will get very sick. be careful.

    Unless you want to eat nuts, protein bars, and vitamins everyday.

    That's what happened to me when I gave up meat. My hair became thinner, undereyes became darker, skin lighter, and body limpy.

    Your muscles begin to sag sort of because there is not enough energy in your body to keep the heat strengthening your muslces.

    To replace a slice of steak, you'd have to eat a bag of nuts.

    Seriously.

    Now I eat meat and my mucles are toner, I'm more energetic (not sleepy anymore all the time), my hair is growing back thicker and faster, and I don't feel drowsy all the time.

    I know how it hurts to see animals suffer,

    so it's your choice.

    I had to change mine and I'm not the changing type.

    edit : this goes to those that are uniformed and ignorant. I ate proteins from everything else but it still didn't keep me healthy. I ate tofu, beans, peanut butter, vitamins, etc all the time!! It still didn't help.

    Only a healthy vegetarian can oppose me and I know none of you are. I know it.

  12. Vegetarian can be healthy, and there are worse for your body than meat.  Vegetarians can also eat potatoe chips, (not heatlhy) mac and cheese (not healthy) pizza, (not healthy) drink beer (very very not healthy).  A healthy vegetarian diet is about ballance in your life food choices.

  13. YES IT IS!!!am i the only person who reads the bible?? God put certain animal on this planet for a reason.if he didnt want us to eat them why was he asking the Isrealites {moses and his tribe} to sacrifice on an altar. Obviously he doesnt think it is wrong so why does everyone else think it is??? I know every one thinks it cute and sweet and popular for some reason but you are really just making up all those reasons. It is meant to be.
