  1. yes, at my school doing at 1 language was compulsory, and so many people did another one so they didnt have to do citizenship. almost everyone i know did pretty well in the full or short course(although i didnt do german coz i wasnt very good, but i regret not taking it now)....

So if ur good at languages u should do it. as they are more valuable than some other subjects.

good luck with wateva u decide :D

  2. depends what job u wanna do

personally i think languages are a waste of time and the whole world should speak english!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. Depends on what you want to do in life.

    -x-

  4. Unless you are Fluent, in one of the laguages, or are really clever, my advice is NO.

You get mixed up between the two laguages.

For Example German & French. Ich Bien ein chat. where it should be J'ai en chat (I'am a cat)

  5. nooooooo!!! u wld get mixed up with the 2 languages & u might gt bad results in the actual exam!

e.g if u take french and german u might put something tats french in a german exam!!!

  6. Yes, I think having language knowledge is a great bonus later on in life, you never know when you may need to speak French / German / Spanish...!!

I did French and German for GCSE and A-Level and I didn't really get confused between them as they are so different, also if you really want to maximise your skills, I would suggest spending a couple of weeks or so with a family in the country of the language(s) you are learning, this experience is invaluable and really helps!

  7. its entirely up to you, I only did Welsh, but many of my friends did French too. It isn't going to be something that will be a hinderance to you later on in life just because you didn't do two languages, but if you feel you'd like to, then go for it.

  8. Hiya Rachel,

If you think you can do it, why not? A friend of mine has a very good job with Sony because he speaks French and Spanish. The important thing is to think about what kind of career you'd like to get into.

Don't let anyone panic you into thinking your GCSEs will dictate the rest of your life. They won't! You can change direction at College and even at Uni. Do the best you can, but carry on enjoying yourself too! Enjoy your hols : )

  9. I guess it depends on the student and the languages. If you feel confident enough to take on two, then go for it! I think, however, that you should try to find two languages that compliment each other, such as Spanish and French or Spanish and Portugese......on the other hand, this may make learning more difficult than if you had two completely different languages, which leads back to my point that it depends on the student.

Speak to your tutors who will advise you on such matters.
