  2. No, drinking too much water in a day (say, more than 3 liters in a few hours) can upset the natural balance of electrolytes in the body, and cause water poisoning, which could be fatal. Therefore, contests, fraternity rites, or dumb bets involving drinking a lot of water are not very wise.

  3. 3 litres i think is 'healthy' much more is dangerous, as one guy found out recently...he drank 5 gallons i think and died, cos he overdosed on water...so yes its good to hydrate yourself but don't go too mad with it

  6. Yes it is good to drink a lot of water. For proper hydration we need 1 ounce for every 2 pounds of body weight plus 8 more ounces for every 20 minutes of exercise. With hot/dry days and climates even more is needed.

    You can drink even more if you are trying to suppress your appitite or clense your system. When people fast they do it by consuming  a bunch of water all day for a certain amount of time. You really don't have to worry about over doing it as you will just excreet what you don't need. The only problem that people have is if they have a large amount in a very short amount of time. Much more extreme than other posters have mentioned so far.
