Is it good to get rebelliousness out of the way in early teens?

I was thinking about the past 3 years of my life today.

I'm 16 and since i was 13, i have:

- Smoked alot

- Drunk a bit

- Pierced things myself

- Shop lifted

- Played my fair share of games of 'spin the bottle' with strangers.

Now, i believe that because of my past, i will NEVER

-Be a smoker

-Binge drink

-Get obsessive body art

-0r be a s**t

I have gone past that "silly" phase of my life, and am now ready to be a functioning member of society.

What do you think of this?

im still kinda offff endin dat lil phase..

  2. I completely agree with you.

  3. It is just a phase. Every kid goes through the 'bad' phase

wow.. I asked kinda the same question. cool

  4. I agree with you.

  5. i think it is, my sister got her rebelliousness out of her system when she was 12 and 13, she drank, smoked but only a little, and cut class. I'm 15 and i am just starting to rebel out, well i have for about eight months. i have gotten drunk or smoked weed almost every day for the past few months. i have tried hard drugs, i cut class at least four times a week, i have had a lot of s*x with more than a few guys, pierced myself, and have almost gotten in trouble with the law a few times. i guess i did go off the deep end, but i have been having fun. to sum it up she was never as bad as what i am, and i think that has to do with age.

  6. i think it depends on the teen because a lot of teens do go through that phase but sometimes they like it and stay that way. While others just go through it and thats it. My friend went through that phase and she is still a smoker and drinker and shes been doing that since she was 14. Now shes 24 and she drinks and smokes ALOT. It just depends on the teen.

  7. I guess, but I don't really have a rebellious side.

  8. I never did any of that stuff, but I did have a period of time (like 12-14) where I was a lot crazier and did things impulsively and without much respect for anybody, including myself. Looking back, that's really what it feels like; I was going through that silly phase of my life and now I'm a functioning member of society. Some people our age may be blessed with perfect Brady Bunch surroundings and never have the chance to get out of line much, or just be internally strong enough to never suffer with the whole rebelliousness (because I feel that throughout the whole period while I tried to find happiness, I was just miserably suffering), but the majority of people our age either go through such a phase and get over it fairly quickly because they find strength in something or there are those who unfortunately fall into these things and are unable to get out of them.

    Good question! ;-)
