Is it hard being a Purchasing manager?

i might wanna be one. ive read about it but im just wondering what the job outlook is.........

My dad was one. He liked it, but it was stressful. If you order too much, the business loses money. If you order too little, the business loses money. You also have to be a good negotiator-- pay too much and the business loses money! And some times the only way to get the best price is to schmooze.  On the other hand, as you can see it's a very important position!  You won't be able to start as a PM though. You will have to start as a clerk or a purchasing agent and earn your stripes.  Best of luck.
