  1. Depends on what you were trained for. Not much need for riflemen in the civie world. The military is not just infantry and cooks.

  2. Infantry is the still best MOS I've seen any of my friends take up and relate directly to success in the civilian world. They learned leadership under fire, integrity and loyalty to thier comrades. I fought in Iraq twice, spent 8 years total in the Marine Infantry, got out and went straight into managing a small business (franchised). I'm 26 years old and I make over $150,000/yr after taxes. I'm not the typical result, but overall I haven't seen any other MOS's outperform infantry when translating to the civilian world. Medics are the best Military job I think to translate DIRECTLY into Civilian jobs, but there are no Medics in the Marines. Also, it doesn't matter what job you have in the Marines, officer or enlisted-if you were a s-h-i-tbag in the Marines, you will be a shitbag in the civilian world.

  3. Common sense dude..If his job in the military does not translate directly to a civilian job then yes, it will be difficult to use what he has learned..If your job is lets say air traffic controller or military police then those jobs will help you directly.

But most employers are looking for what is in a Marine and not always what he has done for work..

If your thinking about enlisting into the USMC to gain experience for the civilian life job wise then that is not a smart move..Join the other branches if that is what you want..

  4. Some jobs in the military do not directly relate to civilian jobs, but there are things that people in the military carry with them when they enter the civilian job market.  Many people who leave the military after serving for an extended time already have leadership and management skills, and have experience in both.  They have experience working as a member  of a team.

  5. No, because what ever your MOS is in the military of any branch, there are other things that are important to any employer. Things like integrity and loyalty. Other things such as discipline and motivation.

All this makes for a successful employee.

  6. It is no harder than for any of the other services.  Translating your military skills into the civilian sector depends on what job you had in the military.  Granted there aren't many calls for infantry in the civilian world, there are more support jobs in all the services than there are combat jobs.

  7. No, LEADERSHIP, RESPECT, DETERMINATION, PERSEVERANCE still work most places.

  8. It really depends what MOS you choose. My boyfriend is a financial advisor in the Marine Corps and when he gets out he'll be a CPA and can go directly into a civilian job. Talk to a recruiter about jobs that easily translate into the civilian world.
