Is it hard for someone who knows how to sail to pick up windsurfing?

I have being sailing since I was a kid.  I

ve tried windsurfing a number of times and did not succeed - its a different game.  Windsurfing requires a lot more strength than sailing.

Probably easier to learn, as you have a knowledge of how to approach waves, and which way you want the sail to be to get where you want to with the wind directions.

I love windsurfing, and I have done a little bit of sailing.

There are similarities such as assessing wind direction but any windsurfer will tell you that windsurfing is the purest form of sailing because you don't have a rudder so it is very different from that point of view.

If you are reasonably co-ordinated and have decent balance you shouldn't have any problems learning to windsurf especially on the new equipment that is available now. I would recommend going along to a course at least to get the basics and then practise from there.
