  1. Depends were you live but I think its some what hard first you must have sufficient amount of money they wont let poor people adopt a child because the child needs to be in a good stable environment where money is no problem. Second of all you can't have any criminal back ground they wont hand over a baby to a person who is a murderer. Third of all you cant be mentally ill like psycho or Special ed. because the person will not be able to take care of the child. But if you are average (money is no prob) and you've never been to jail and ur not mentally ill then it should be easy to adopt a child. But they do check up your whole background history. Which takes time so yeah...its kinda hard u just gotta be clean and patient

  2. I've got family friends that have been going through the adoption process for over a year. They have monthly 'pop in' visits where the monitor goes through everything...EVERYTHING..in their house...they even went through the fridge and pantry to make sure nothing was out of date. But...I just heard last week that their about to get 2 little girls :) It's a very long and detailed process, but in their opinions absolutely worth it!

  3. It takes time, money and patience.

I think most adoptions take anywhere from 6 months to 2 years, depending on the age you are looking for.  Babies are the most sought after.

  4. Yes, slow and detailed.

Some places refuse people for their own reasons that may make no sense to someone else... for example, China rules out someone with what they consider a history of mental illness, even if that is just that you were put on antidepressants after your fifth miscarriage or something.

In Canada, political correctness has ruled that whites may not adopt aboriginal children. There are loving foster parents who have had the same kid for a decade, and that is all they can ever be.

Apparently, India wants babies to only go to families with Indo-Pakistani heritage... but 3 yr olds are going to anybody.
