  1. Babies are harder to come by, there are lots of *older* kids in the foster care system but most people overlook them for a womb-fresh infant or a nice exotic international showpiece.

Private adoption, agencies, international adoption...all are extremely expensive (profit driven).

Foster-adopt is fairly inexpensive, but for any type of adoption you have to pass a homestudy, be able to prove you are financially capable of caring for the child, etc.

  3. Each state has different rules/regulations with regards to adoption.  I would recommend speaking to your local children & youth department for more information on foster adoption or a local reputable adoption agency to find out information on the different types of adoption available and your state's requirements.

    Good luck.

  4. The first thing i would do is to find a good adoption agency.  Something like Luthern Social Services or Catholic Social Services should be nationwide.  You choose an adoption agency so that if the birthparent backs out you don't lose your money.  They will be happy to send you a full package explaining everything.  They are extremely professional and I've never heard of a bad situation from anyone in the adoption community.

If you have no children it will be totally easy to adopt. After we had four children we weren't getting picked for adoption domestically and we had to go internationally.  There are plenty of grants and loans you can get through some agencies.  McDonald's actually pays half the adoption fees for its employees.

Foster care systems in your state is also a good place to adopt.  A greater chance there of having a drug or alcohol exposed child.  Many of the birthparents in these situations don't choose to place their children, they are actually taken away. (not quite the warm and fuzzy feeling as an agency adoption)  Several of my friends have adopted this way and have had wonderful outcomes.  So reviews are mixed here.

Good luck to you i hope I've helped.

  5. No it's not hard, there are thousands of children in foster care waiting for a loving home

The agency wants to be sure that children are adopted into homes where they will ... good that many people want to adopt kids, but why do kids need to be adopted? ...
