I'm going to be taking my classes to become a HHA and I'm kind of nervous. I just wanted to know are the tests they give you hard.

  1. I'm not sure about training itself, but the job may be both mentally as well as physically taxing.  Please do study hard, make note cards out of index cards (the larger ones are easier on the hand), read over one's notes and chapters after each class and every day.  When I was in school (not for home health or nursing :), I used to also make-up practice exams in the form that the instructor gave such as multiple choice, fill-in-the-blank, matching, short essay or such.  Reading the glossary can also help to reinforce new vocabulary words and medical terminology.

General career info:  http://www.bls.gov/oco and can search 'personal and home care aides', 'nursing, psychiatric and home health aides' or such.

  2. when i was doing my CNA (its about the same thing) most of the test were common sence questions...they had a lot of senerio questions  like if a resident said she had a headache what woud you do and like 3 of the answers would be crazy like tell her to stop complaining, tell her to shut up, and tell her to get over it and 1 would be the right answer like ask if she would like some tylonol

  3. NO

  4. No, it's not hard. It's not a lot of book learning, it's mostly how to do things.

You will learn how to make beds the way they do in hospitals (sometimes with the patient still in the bed), how to transfer patients from bed to chair, how to take vital signs (taking temperature, pulse and respiration), and the importance of hygiene and sanitation.

It's mostly common sense, as someone else said.

The work itself can be hard. It takes some physical strength and stamina, but it's not hard intellectually.

  5. Depending on the state you live in...usually you need a certification equal to a Certified Nursing Assistant.  Some physicians can certify you, otherwise most community colleges offer it. Some Home Health companies will offer the course free of charge if you agree to work for them after you complete the course.

  6. Yeah, I am in LNA training. The tests are very easy. without even opening my book to study I got a 98 on my last one...and I'm no genius lol.
