No, it's very easy to call the US from Holland/Amsterdam.. Just dial 001, then the area code and then the number and you're through...

Almost everybody in Holland has a computer and Internet access... Actually, the Netherlands has the highest percentage (89%) of Internet users in the World (USA=9th with 69%) and has the World's third highest percentage (25%) of people with broadband access (USA=16th with 16%).

My Friend.

No it not hard. You can call to the US from your Hotel Room, At the Station Central, and certainly from every telephone cabain in the street. Fares can be around 0.25 Euro (25  Euro Cents) per minute.

Lots of Internet Cafes availabe everywhere to chat, tu e mail, or just to surf in the net. Almost every hotel and hostel have a PC available for their guests, so u may ask about it at the reception / concierge. At the Central Train Stations and the Airports it is easy to find anything you may need such as:

Bathrooms

Tourist Information (Info/ Maps)

Telephone Cabains

Internet

Policemen

Restaurants

Taxis

etc etc.....

We had no problems whatsoever calling home to the US everytime we have been in Amsterdam and yes, alot of people do have computers, and of course, there are internet cafes.
