Is it hard to get a job as a medical coder after you receive a certificate from a technical college in coding?

  2. It just all depends on the demand in your area. Good luck to you!

  3. Maybe. You're better off to get a degree instead of a certificate. Then you can take the RHIT exam, which a lot of places require.

    It depends on the hospital's/physician's office guidelines in your area and what they require though. Check with them.

Unfortunately, there aren't supposed to be too many jobs for the medical coder (or biller or medical assistant) despite what those private $$ schools say :)  The coder must have a few years experience doing coding tasks along with certification(s) upon passing an exam to possibly otain a coding job.

    If still wanting training, please look at the more affordable schools such as the county vo-tech school or community college as long as it's accredited within the industry.

  5. RHIT is indeed a good designation for job seeking.  There are coding jobs on the website below. You'll see what they require.
