Is it hard to get gigs in Ireland?

I'm an American indie musician and I live in Sligo, Ireland with my boyfriend a few months out of the year and I'd like to book gigs to promote my new cd and try to make a name for myself there. I just want to know, is it hard to get a gig in Ireland? How does it work? Is it just standard protocol, like it is in the states? Is it informal? Do you HAVE to know people in order to get playing in pubs/cafes? Or do you just call them up and ask?

  2. You would do best to burn a single CD, or a few samples, and leave them with the pub owners.  This way, they have something tangible to listen to and the recording lends an air of legitimacy to your request.  Thay likely get many such solicitations, so you need to package your proposal in an attractive, memorable, and professional way, to make it stand out from the rest.

  3. It is informal. Your best bet would be to call a load of pubs/cafes and ask. There are plenty who will take you

  4. go to galway, bars like massimos or blue note, roisin dubh, cuba etc love  his sort of stuff. or try busking we love good singers

  5. Just call the places and ask them. I don't think theres any sort of procedures you have to follow in order to play.
