  1. Davis isn't all too selective. However, I would definitely keep your grades up. My sister has wanted to go to Davis her whole life, and she kept her grades and extracurriculars up despite its high acceptance rate. It has really paid off because she can now apply to Davis as a safety school. She is now interested in the veterinary program at Cornell University, and she actually has a chance at getting in because she didn't slack off during HS. She has kept her 4.0 gpa and has completed over 500 hours at the local animal shelter.

So all in all, it's not incredibly difficult to get into Davis, yet keeping your grades up and doing extra volunteer work (the animal shelter is great especially if you're interested in animal science) will pay off in the end. Keep your options open!

    EDIT:

Here's the link to the most recent Common Data Set for Davis (2007):

    http://www.sariweb.ucdavis.edu/commondat...

The acceptance rate for that year was approximately 58.37%.

  2. No, you do not need a 4.0 average into UCD.  UCD is one of the less competitive UC schools to get into.  Volunteering at the local animal shelter will probably not help you unless you are a borderline case.  It is best to concentrate on a getting a GPA around 3.5, good SAT scores and a good essay is a must if your GPA and SAT scores fall below the mean.

  3. You need at 3.65 or higher. (And actually the incoming class' average gpa this year is a 3.7, so a lot of people have a higher gpa. It is getting harder and harder to get accepted into college as the years go by.)

    Volunteer and join clubs.

    Take AP classes.

    Write an excellent personal statement.

Do at least an 1880 on the SATs. Study well for them.
