Is it hard to keep a white dog's fur white?

i might be getting a Westie but i just want to know is it hard to keep a white dog's fur white and if it is how do i keep it from getting brown in areas like on paws and eyes. also im not going to keep it's fur too long.

I have 2 shih tzu- white & tan=- just recently they began to have bronzing discoloration around the feet & facial area's  especially the male- what can be done to stop this discoloration?

This is my 2nd precious westie and he has is now 5 years old and he also developed the bronzing on his paws and mouth area.  For some reason I have a feeling that since I changed his food brand from holistic food to a store bought can food (due to my loss of income couldn't afford breeders holistic food costs)  he developed more bronzing in my opinion. Well I am now able to financially go back to the holistic food and will see if his bronzing of hair color improves & he goes back to being all white again.
