I love to write music, and i think it would be nice if i could at least write somemusic to go with my songs. I'm a pretty quick learner, even though i've had a guitar for 4 years and dont even know what a fret is. But i learned the clarinet in a year. . . .so if i usually am a quick learner. . . do you think i'll be able to pick up piano pretty easily

  1. not really......for me it was really easy.......at first its kinda hard whn you have to learn all of the scales and chords (Scales are the worst to me)......... when i learn a new piece , its so much fun to play....

  2. piano took me 6 years to master but iwasnt the best practicer all the way through it ... the hardest part about piano is that there are so many notes! in guitar you for the most part play chords and stuff. But if you have nimble fingers that can stretch atleast an octive that I'm sure you can pick it up preety easily but everyone is  different. All you need to remeber about piano is:

    PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE!!

Be paciant (i cant spell) with yourself

Dont give up on a hard peice just take it slowly

    Find a good teacher

If a teacher isnt working for you dont be afraid to "hurt their feelings" by leaving them just say i need a break than find a new teacher

take it one step at a time dont over load yourself with way too difficult music or straining theory

find your perfet type of music example: if you like happy otart music dont play dark shopan music

    pace yourself

practice in intervals (20 min at a time is great)

enjoy it if you dont enjoy you will never learn

btw im a living example of all those things

    hope that helps! :))

  3. Yeah i find that the piano is probably one of the easiest instruments to learn so u shld be able to pick it up quite quickly

  4. Hi pal,

I think you'd surely be able to pick up piano easily, given the fact that you have background on other instruments, and that you love to write music.

Piano is actually one of the easiest instruments to learn. The notes are in order (C,D,E,F,G,A,B,C) and it keeps going on and on. It won't as difficult as guitar where you have to watch the fingerings and strum.

My advice is for you to start with one hand (preferbly the right) and start with the scales. You could start by pressing various keys on the keyboard and then identifying the notes. Then, it should be easy I'll guess. You could start off with songs like 'Twinkle twinkle little star' till harder pieces like 'Canon in C'.

I have learnt piano for awhile, then cello and recorder and harmonica playing in school. They're rather fun and easy to pick up too.

    ;D

    Good luck!

  5. Its fine if you start easy and build up. And if you are committed and practice. I teach myself and i can play 4th grade pieces comfortably. Just don't expect great things straight away, build your way up and before you know it you will be playing like Mozart himself! hehe
