  1. Check out the long & mcquade website for guitar prices, new and used. it should give you a good idea since they're very widely known. the price depends on the guitar. check out some music stores around you.

learning to play isnt that hard. its better to start with an acoustic though, you're right.

if you start with the scales then work your way into songs, thats the best way to go.

take it slow, practice alot, but dont practice for too long.

play for 5-10 mins then take a 5-10 min break for your mind to refresh, and dont get frustrated too fast.

one private lesson a week is probably the way to go.

  2. It all depends what you want out of it and what you put into it!

  3. its hard. very hard. i am trying to learn musical instruments such as drums, piano and guitar as well. its hard. but u have to try.

  4. It depends how you learn the guitar. When your learning you find that you have strengths and weaknesses in your playing. For some people, playing chords are the hardest thing for them, and for others it might be playing those tricky solos. Some people (the genuises) don't find anything that hard, and some people are challenged by everything.

For me, I didn't find it that hard to learn how to play, but my problem was keeping my interest on it. I went into a small phase of "learning guitar would be soooo cool". After two years of playing, I finally developed a love for it, so make sure it's something you want to SERIOUSLY DO, otherwise don't waste your time.

Oh DONT TAKE LESSONS ONLINE (those almost NEVER work.) I suggest lessons. If you are going to take lessons, that I think is the best way to go, it shouldn't be that hard to learn. The instructors usually slowley introduce things that you are capable of learning at your skill level. They usually don't give you something that's too hard. Each intructor emphasizes differnet things when you start playing, so its hard to say for sure. If you have trouble with chords when you begin, and your teacher loves teaching things in chords, of course its going to be more challenging then it has to be.

As for cost level, there is a very very broad range of prices. It all depends on the brand, and the quality of the guitar. Fender and Gibson are both notorious for their good guitars (Gibson is a little more pricey though) but if you are JUST beginning, I suggest you start off with a little, dare I say, 'cheapo' guitar. The beginning of playing guitar is like a trial run, so don't invest in anything too pricey. Even though you think you are going to stick with it, most people don't, so be aware of that.

Acoustic guitars can run from 100 dollars (the ones at WallMart), those are the cheapo ones I am talking about, to 7-8,000. Of course there are the guitars that are cheaper then 100, and more expensive then 8,000.

Brand doesn't really matter if it's you FIRST guitar. Just pick one up from your local target or Costco. The only brand I wouldnt recommend, even for beginners, is First Act. Their guitars are really really terrible. You can get Epiphone guitars for pretty cheap, and they are quality guitars for the price.

Hope I helped. Oh and if you feel like it check out http://www.guitarcenter.com/ they are a really cool store for guitars and such.

  5. It's not that hard. I started playing about 4 years ago.

At first I started teaching myself from a book, then I started taking private lessons once a week and I have been ever since.

And the price depends on the guitar.

Maybe try searching the internet or going to music stores in your area.

  6. i tried to learn. but its like so freaking hard. like i tried to learn online. go on google and type in "learn how to play guitar online for free" and see if you understand how to play. if you don't then don't buy it. it was very hard for me to learn. lol.
