  1. Idnotavaiablagain does not own a bike and never took judo when he was a kid. He is a blogger, i own 3 bikes and have been in 2 accidents. When a car pulls out in front of you at 40 miles an hour there is no "break fall" (which is important in judo) you dont have that time to react. Every othe answer is good though drive safe don't show off, i've been riding 5 years and love everyday of it. If you take the course (as i did in my 3rd year of riding) you'll be a much better rider and they can make you go from noob to very competant in the 5 days/ 2 weeks your course lasts. Its not hard to learn to ride it just takes patience. Big key tip use your clutch often starting out release it slow and dont be afraid to ride it, as a new biker it's your biggest tool in learning. Good luck and i recomend taking that course!

  2. It can be difficult, but many people have done it.

It is scary at first, and rightly so.

You are exposed, and that machine will hurt you

    if you let it.

They are more dangerous on wet roads, or any other

'iffy' surface. Sand, leaves, manhole covers,

steel bridge decks, are things you will learn to

    watch for and respect.

That said, it's also fun and rewarding.

Don't show off or work out aggression on a bike.

Do ride it as you would drive a car with 'iffy' brakes.

Leave plenty of room to maneuver.

Do find and take the MSF New Riders Course.

    See ya on the road.

  3. It is dangerous.

You don't have to be an idiot to get hit by another car.

If you know how to ride a bicycle and you know how to use a stick shift - you know to ride.  But there's a big difference between know how to get the bike going, and being a safe rider.

On a bike it is all about defensive riding.

    Good Luck...

  4. yes, its difficult and it takes a lot if practice and a lot of level headed-ness.  starting out on a dirt bike is the way to go, especially if you're still young

  5. The basic operation is easy to learn.  Taking a MSF course helps out alot in learning and getting your license.

Practicing riding close to home for awhile will help you get in the skills of manuevering your motorcycle before you start traveling on faster and busier highways.

It has it dangers, but the dangers are decreased with paying attention to your surroundings and riding within your capabilites.

  6. I'd say that to ride defensively you have to ride aggressively. It's either that or I wouldn't have survived all those years of dispatch riding in london.

I am not sure how old you are and what the traffic is like where you are going to ride but I'd say if you are asking such questions then I wouldn't be your pillion for a million bucks.

Well, on a deserted road I'd have no problems but in a city? No way. They'll indicate turning left then turn right in front of you, you need to be able to just JUMP out of the way. Yep it can be done, don't ask me how lol.

Also, wet roads? yeah, and oil slicks. I did judo as a kid so I know how to fall, forward and side. Some people think they'll be protected by leather and just fall like potato sacks then they break bones.

You need to be able to fall, that's very important and no  riding instructor will ever teach you that, you learn to fall from a judo master or ever soccer trainer.

  7. You ride as tho you are invisible

No one including cops can see you

Riding is easy, not getting kilt is hard.

Riding is the rain is like surfing, some can do it, some can not.

  8. in some ways, learning to ride a motorcycle is even easier then a bicycle...

for one, you never have to worry about going fast enough to keep your balance lol...
