  1. it's not hard to learn how to ride any bike...

how to ride the competitevily is a diffrent story, however....

if you're wanting to get a motorcycle for transportation and have never used one before, you can learn pretty easily... it's almost as easy as riding a bicycle (there are a few more 'points' you have ot learn such as throttle-clutch control..) but overall, it's nearly the same (the balancing and handling.... if you can ride a bicycle you can learn to ride a motorcycle)

take a MSF course, theyr'e not hard to find, they teach you how to ride and how to ride safely (highly reccomended) don't let your 'embarrasment' hold you back (nearly eveyrone is there for the same reason you are) or anything.... no one will really ridicule you or anything, and anyone who does is just tyring to compensate for their ineptness.....

  2. It could be hard for someone if they dont get it and never will but most will. My GF took a riding class and got her license and one of her classmate got sent home cuz she just couldn't do it.

  3. It is fairly easy, provided that the bike is not too heavy, it's low enough that you can put both feet flat on the ground, and it puts you in a position that is comfortable and allows you maximum control over the bike.  If you know nothing of bikes, there is something called a petcock, and then there are the gears and the clutch.  For this reason, you should have a friend, relative, or some other person who is an experienced rider that you can ask questions of anytime.  Alternative is a motorcycle safety course.

I recommend taking a motorcycle safety course.  It costs anywhere from 150-200 dollars.  But what you learn there is invaluable, and if you pass (it's easy), they give you a card that you take to the DMV when you go in for your license test.  Show them the card, and they waive the driving portion of the test, leaving you only the written portion to complete.  Also, show the card to the insurance agent when you go to get insurance, and you gt a significant discount.

Plus, the course will improve your chances of avoiding accidents, and it will teach you all you need to know about riding motorcycles, from how to turn the key, to what you need to know to take a passenger with you.  Everything.
