Is it hard to learn the guitar on your own?

hi i just got a quitar and i'm trying to learn it on my own. i already play the piano and know music - should i get a teacher?

  1. I tried, but I really wanted to take lessons and now I am. :-) You should take lessons because you can get farther and learn more than if you were teaching yourself.


  2. I have been teaching myself and it's turning out well. I just use one of thsoe instructional DVD's and it helps figure out the chords. IF you already know how to read music it shouldn't be that difficult to figure out the chords.

  3. not too hard but tricky.  I did it but im not as good as i could be.

  4. I am teaching myself, I use this book Guitar Method Book 1 by Hal Leonard. It teaches you one string at a time.

  5. if you already know how to play the piano and know how to read music. learning the guitar on your own will not be all that difficult. but yeah, learning it on your own is quite difficult. though ask someone to play with you. it sucks to play alone. lol.

  6. i mainly teach myself, but i go to a teacher like once every 3 weeks, just in case i need to ask a question about something + it's fun to play with someone else once in a while!
