  1. You'd be better off with a flute, it's a smaller instrument.  A trombone becomes heavy if you are part of a marching band, and if your of small body frame, your back might begin to bother you from carrying the instrument.  Flute is also easier to carry to and from home where the trombone is bug / heavy and bulky.

  2. nope, all you have to do is to learn where to move the slide, and you have to be able to blow into it.

  3. All instruments require practice

  4. Some considerations for playing the trombone:

Do you feel a  connection with its musical sound quality? In other words, is it an instrument that appeals to you?

Are you of a large enough physical stature to be able to reach all 7 positions? While there are triggers on trombones that help with this issue, they carry a higher price tag. There are also specialty slides... again, with a higher price tag.

You'll also need to have enough lung capacity to play efficiently.

Additionally, your dental structure/jaw structure needs to be large enough to accommodate a trombone mouthpiece.

Depending on your answers to the above questions, your age, size, etc., you could always start on a smaller brass instrument such as a cornet or trumpet.

If the trombone has "chosen" you... go for it! Enjoy!

  5. Not really, just got to know where to move the slide and always have your lips tight so you the sound comes out better.

  6. The trombone is easy to start but it takes time to develop the skills, technique, and talent to be the best of the best of the best.  Never stop trying, and never give up this will only make you better.

  7. Trombone is not as easy as some people think. There is  some variance to the notes you play by where you position the slide. You have to get it right or you'll be a little off from everyone else. The 1st, 3rd, and 4th positions are easy because of the references your fingers use. 1st is with the slide all the way towards you, 3rd and 4th can be referenced with the outside of the bell. The other positions are a little more subject to interpretation.

Just to make noise on a trombone is easy, to play it well, with good tonality and definition is not. It takes a lot of practice to learn to do this. It is one of the more challenging instruments to learn how to play.
