Can I do this? It also has walls on each side because the driveway slopes down to the basement/garage and they are holding up dirt? Will I need to support it? How could I do this whole project what will I need? How much do you think it will cost?

  1. Having the tools and enough people helping to get it smooth before it dries is a hassle. Better to contract it out.

  2. I would call a contractor to do that job. Its just a little big for a do it yourselfer.

  3. in ur case with this type project......u need to sub it out to a concrete contractor....on a scale of 1-10 this is a 7.....

    lic. gen. contractor

  4. This is hard.

You need to excavate deep to get a slab that is strong enough to support the weight of a vehicle.  So you are talking about excavating a couple feet down for the size of an entire driveway, then loading tons of gravel, then renting a concrete mixer and pouring yards and yards of concrete.

I made a small patio once, and OMG it was hard.

    Expensive, yes.

You might be able to excavate on your own, or do parts of the project, then negotiate with someone who pours concrete from a truck.  That might save some money.

But generally, a concrete driveway is not a good DIY project

  5. if you work out the length and depth of the area you want to fill, then ring a ready-mix concrete firm so that they can give you the price, and when they deliver it ask them not to make it too wet and then you can form your slope.it might sound hard but it not

  6. No, it's not hard for a contractor that does it everyday.

Yes, It would be a nightmare for you to try

Concrete installed with little or no site work - leveling grading etc., is between $3.50 and $4.50 per square foot. Add if your project cannot easily be accessed by concrete truck. Steps, and curbs, special finish like exposed aggregate are also at an additional costs.

Concrete s***w ups are not like paint - a second coat is not an option.
