either imagine that you are in the shallow and dont look down, or if you want to swim fast in the deep, imagine that there is a shark in the deep end and it is chasing you. lol, but it works!

It makes no difference to swimming in the shallow. In fact it's probably easier if you;re feet are not scraping along the floor!

I think it's easier, but I'm very tall, so the shallow end scrapes my feet if I flail about too much.

Now if you're a beginner with swimming, a general rule of thumb is "Can you go underwater without panicking or losing your breath?"   If not, then you will need to have supervision (you should anyway).  The fact of the matter is, if you somehow get dunked underwater from roughhousing and you lose your cool under water, there's more risk of drowning in the deep than the shallow (there's still risk in the shallow, though).

I used to be scared of the deep end when I was younger, but once you get there, you begin to like it a lot more.

No , I find it easier to swim in deep water why? well when ur in sallow u tend u float up! and when ur in deep the pressure isnt that bad and u need to relex... and swim at ur own paste..

I can last along time under water when its deep but when I think of sharks thats when you start to drink water :S

Start taking classes or yoga...
