Is it hard to watch regular t.v. stations on a home projector onto my 80 inch screen i have?

  1. Joe is right in theory, but his 10 ft estimate is too low. An 80" SD TV image would need to be watched at a minimum of 15 feet or so and optimally 20 feet or more (See 1st link). On the other hand HDTV looks very nice on an 80" screen at 15 ft ... and is still very good at 11-12'.


  2. It's fine if you sit 50 feet away from it.

  3. A TV is designed to provide it's optimum image clarity at a predetermined distance from the set.  This is true for any kind of device displaying a picture (Projectors, CRTs, LCDs, etc)

    As the picture size increases, the distance you are meant to sit from the image increases also.  For an 80" screen, you probably want to be at least 10 feet away or you will see picture "artifacts" that the designer did not intend for you to see. (This goes for any source into the TV)
