  1. No..

  2. It depends on what you consider difficult. The steps to become a police officer vary a bit depending on the department. Visit the websites of the police departments that you are interested in. You will usually find detailed information about how to apply and about the hiring process. Stay out of trouble and strive to have a good reputation. Get good grades. Establish some credit history. It doesn't have to be much, but just enough to indicate some financial responsibility. Try to obtain a college degree. A degree will benefit you greatly. Establish a good work history. If you have a job, be a good employee. Be competent, reliable, responsible, courteous, etc. If you don't have one, get one even if it is only one day per week. Check out http://www.peaceofficerjobs.com for excellent information about becoming a law enforcement officer. If done properly, push-ups, pull-ups, crunches, and running will improve your overall fitness and help to physically prepare you for the police academy. Eating healthy is also very important.

  3. That depends what you think is hard.

To become a police officer in MN you have to:

    1) Get a two year degree in criminal justice OR a four year degree in anything

    2) Then go to "skills", which is like a mini-academy that you pay for

    3) Then take a P.O.S.T. exam to be POST licensed. (Peace Officer Standards and Training)

    4) Then apply for jobs.  The usual is several hundred candidates for a couple jobs at each agency.

  4. Just be in good shape, have a sharp mind and getting a degree doesn't hurt either. Check out what academy you want to go to if your self sponsored and see what you can expect if you go. Also if you can ignore all the jerks out there and on here who just put us down all the time and you can keep a level head about it your good to go :) It is a dedication though and you will be held to a higher standard.
