Is it harder to lose weight if you are hard on yourself?

I've gained a lot of weight in the past few years and I put myself down constantly. Recently a friend told me I'm too hard on myself and that makes it harder for me to lose weight. Is this true? Whatever your opinion, please explain why.

  1. well maybe. if ur always put urself down you might be eating more. its just that ur so stressed out on losing weight and sometimes people eat a lot more than they usually do when they're stressed to calm them down.

my suggestion is to stay positive. tell yourself that "you can do it." i've been trying to stay positive because before i'd just be mad at myself and cry all day about how i'm fat,

    here is what i do:

    eat healthy meals all day

run or walk for like an hour

    stay positive!

  2. Well it depends. For some people, being hard on themselves makes them what to lose weight more. But for other people,it makes them more depressed which will slow the process of losing weight down.I hope that I helped.May GOD BLESS you!

  3. sounds like some major bull

  4. in my mind, it could make sense this way:

It's possible that when you get "stressed" about the weight loss. When we are stressed (especially women), a certain hormone is produced in our body which increases our appetite.

That could make you eat more, and thus, make it harder for you to lose weight.

Still, you should focus mostly on your quality of life than the weight. At the same time, sure... exercise, eat well, and make sure you don't overdo it!

  5. depression will make it harder so don't make your self constantly feel down, but stress is an excellent way of loosing weight so get stressed. and to push your self is good just don't push so hard that you hurt your self. good luck

  6. hard on yourself - where, in the gym or at the dinner table?

Mistake number 1 - never listen to friends, if it's a boy, he's got ulterior motives. If it's a girl, she secretly wants you to stay as you are, so she may shine when in your company.

The key words are "NO" and "DISCIPLINE".

"NO" when it comes to consumables, and "DISCIPLINE" when it comes to perseverence in loosing weight.

    Good luck.
