no its nothing like that u can eat, drink, sleep, take bath ,etc.

its just an eclipse yaar not any minister who would lead tax on each and every thing.

Ancient people could not understand why eclipse happens.

So they thought that a huge snake is eating Sun.So they made some rules out of ignorance. Eating and drinking is one of them. Just a superstition nothing else.

Yes, you should not drink water or eat food however kicking back with a couple of beers and catching the eclipse is totaly acceptable.
