Is darker bread with pumpernickel healthier than whole grain bread? If i want to lose weight should I eat whole grain bread or dark bread(black)? Moreover, what is the difference between whole wheat bread and whole grain? Is whole wheat also healthy and good for weight loss?

  1. whole wheat and whole grain are the same, and are healthier than the dark pumpernickel bread.

    You aren't likely to lose weight because you switched from white bread to whole wheat/whole grain breads. (Unless you were eating a lot of bread and your new bread has fewer calories)

    However, for health purposes the whole grain bread is good for you. The soluble fiber is good for your heart, and the bread has more vitamins and less sugar than white bread.  


  2. Whole wheat IS whole grain... So is Oat, Rye, Etc. pumpernickel is not whole grain, therefore it is not as healthy. When you purchase bread look for "whole grain"... And also, look at the ingredients in the bread.. never buy bread that contains high fructose cornsyrup, which MANY of them do. The one that I found without HFCS is Arnold Light whole wheat. Each slice is only 40 calories too!
