Is it healthier to eat just the sloppy joe meat and sauce without the bread ?

  1. Omitting the bread would only save you a few calories and cabs. For a balanced meal, you need some carbs anyway. I would make the sloppy joes with 93% lean ground beef or ground turkey breast. You can also add some diced bell pepper, onion, and carrot to give more nutritional value.


  2. depends what your views are... if you are on a low-carb diet, then yes, even though sloppy joe sauce usually has a fair amout of sugar.  If you arn't on a low-carb diet, sloppy joes are pretty bad in general but i would say on whole-grain or a better bun would be best.

  4. You'd be cutting the carbs out and about 200 calories for the bread.

    I make mine with lean ground beef and serve it over brown rice.  It's low carb and lower in calories than on a bun.
