I have been running about 1.5+ miles every day for a little over a month. Am I over training??? I just don't seem to be making gains and at times I'm a little slower than my target time which is 13:30 for a mile and a half......

  1. Truthfully, running at all isn't the "healthiest" activity. It's murder on joints. Maybe not a biggie now, but as you approach and pass 40, you'll feel the effects.

Power walking is much less damaging to joints. Swimming even less than walking, but burns more calories than running, and is excellent aerobically. Ellipticals and stairclimbers are not as hard on joints either.

  2. how far do you think Olympic runners run everyday doesn't seem to have hurt them

  3. yeahh its healthy :)   your supposed to exercises at least 30 minutes a day :)

  4. if its not about competition, then  it is very healthy to run that distance every day. don`t think about target time, think about running every day.

  5. Look at the human body, do U think it was designed to run? the cheetah can run over 60 mph, can U?. Most people who I know live longer lives and they weren't runners. Normal excersise is all u need. If U have a goal in mind thats different but r u gona do something that no ones else has, r just for your personal satisifaction. i would go for longevity and not heel spurs n bad joints.. have a good day.

  6. I run 4 miles everyday.  I hear that it is not healthy and it probably not since I have shin splints all the time (lol).  Your supposed to give your muscles time to rest and heal from the damage.  I just feel better when I run.  If I skip a day...I feel guilty.  I know it's a mental thing.  I'm sure I'll pay for it when I'm old and crippled.
